Reaching this milestone age feels like hitting a Stone Age of sorts. It’s that age where you’re still piecing together who you are and figuring out your place in the working world. You're stuck in this weird limbo where you're old enough to know better but young enough to still make mistakes. Meanwhile, your coworkers look at you like you could be their kid, even though you're technically colleagues. (they are projecting I guess, I know they wish they was my age again, secretly lool)
Try guess my age?
Ah, boundless creativity! That was the hallmark of my early years. Take, for example, the time when, as a child, I decided to cut open a brand-new couch my parents had just bought to see what furniture was made of. (For those with African parents, you can imagine what happened next. Let’s just say they really whipped me into shape. No pun intended.) But seriously, my fascination with creativity and curiosity has been the driving force behind everything I've done since I was a child, up until now. I've always found ways to blend all my passions, such as sports, fashion, and culture, with art and design.
Ever heard of the saying, “Creatives are the new athletes”? This phrase captures the idea that, much like athletes who train their bodies to excel in their sport, creatives hone their minds and spirits to achieve excellence in their craft. Just as athletes push their physical limits to reach peak performance, creatives push the boundaries of imagination, expression, and innovation. Creativity isn’t confined to a specific job or role. It's a way of being that spreads through every facet of life. Whether in the arts, business, technology, or our daily routines, creativity drives innovation and meaningful change. As Rick Rubin wisely said, "The real work of the artist is a way of being in the world. The ability to look deeply is the root of creativity." This mindset and way of being inspired what I like to call an open space, a community known as...
"CreativesAreTheNew..." - an environment to celebrate the boundless potential of creativity in all its forms, recognising it as an essential thread that weaves through everything we do.
How has creativity inspired and shaped your journey and how do you channel it into your life and passions today?"
The "CreativesAreTheNew..." Philosophy:
Creativity is Universal: Creativity isn’t just for artists; it’s a trait everyone can harness, no matter the job or role.
Daily Application: From problem-solving at work to everyday decision-making, creativity is at the core of how we live and function.
Breaking Boundaries: This movement breaks down the traditional idea of who is considered "creative," empowering everyone to embrace their creativity.
Community of Innovators: "CreativesAreTheNew..." fosters a space where people from all fields can share and celebrate their creative experiences.
